No Smoking imageThe City of Denton City Council passed Ordinance No. 2012-367 on December 18, 2012, which prohibits smoking in certain public establishments. Council appointed a 19-member Ad-hoc Citizen Advisory Committee to advise Council in the development of a comprehensive smoking ban ordinance and to recommend which, if any, exceptions would be included. Council directed the Committee to consider definitions and exceptions with the intent to protect the health and safety of the general public. The Advisory Committee held four meetings from Oct. – Dec. 2012, and made their final recommendation to the City Council on Dec. 11, 2012. After much deliberation and public input, Council passed a comprehensive smoking ordinance on Dec. 18, 2012.

The City of Denton City Council passed Ordinance No. 2012-367 on December 18, 2012, which prohibits smoking in certain public establishments. After much deliberation and public input, Council passed a comprehensive smoking ordinance on Dec. 18, 2012.

In order to allow businesses to come into compliance with the new ordinance, the City is extending a 30-day grace period from the effective date of April 17, 2013 to May 16, 2013.
