Archery & Rock Climbing

Beginning Archery

National Archery in the Schools Kids learn the basics of international-style archery on a legal indoor range with a USA Archery and National Archery in Schools Program certified instructor, with plenty of target practice. Archery aids in the development of micro and macro abilities, as well as listening and observation skills. Closed-toe shoes are required. Register by the Friday before each session.

Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

Denia Rec Center's 20-foot wall uses top-rope climbing and offers five courses, each varying in degree of difficulty. With the completion of the annual safety course, guests can access the wall during open hours without requiring staff belay.

Safety Course

  • $10 per adult,
  • $5 per kid
  • To schedule, call 940-349-8285

Climbing with Safety Course Completion

  • $2 per day,
  • Ages 7 and older

Climbing Without Safety Course

  • $5 per hour
  • An appointment is required for staff to belay

Neighborhood Fishin' Program

Parks and Recreation partners with Texas Parks and Wildlife to provide recreational fishing opportunities in Denton. The south pond at South Lakes Park is stocked with Catfish at 2-week intervals from mid-April through October, except August due to the water quality.  Rainbow Trout is stocked at 2-week intervals from late November through early March.
