Historic Preservation
Historic Preservation is about telling the story of Denton, including our neighborhoods, commercial districts, and homes through the built environment. Denton has been shaped by our vibrant history, and our built environment helps to tell that story and celebrate it. We preserve to protect not only our quality of life, our pride of place, and our sense of community, but also so that we can pass Denton’s past on to future generations. In order to do that, we need to save local landmarks, but we also need to preserve the residential and commercial districts unique to our community to ensure the longevity of Denton’s character and the strength of its economy.
As American author, Steve Berry once said, "A concerted effort to preserve our heritage is a vital link to our cultural, educational, aesthetic, inspirational, and economic legacies - all of the things that quite literally make us who we are.” Preservation is not solely about preserving the brick and mortar but saving communities to ensure their future.
