Traffic Engineering & Operations

The Traffic Engineering and Traffic Operations groups make up the Transportation Division. These two teams manage the traffic signals, traffic signs, roadway markings, and school zones in Denton. As the city continues to grow, the Transportation Division is challenged to meet mobility demands through innovative solutions, developing effective strategies, and establishing programs.

The Traffic Engineering team manages:

  • Traffic Control Plan development and review
  • Transportation Planning and Policy Development
  • Neighborhood traffic calming design
  • Bicycle and pedestrian facility design
    • The Bike Plan works to design safe and convenient infrastructure for non-motorized travel in the City. This includes:
      • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
      • Bike lanes and routes
      • Curb ramps
      • Side paths along roadways
      • Sidewalks
    • Bike and Pedestrian Safety
