Donate
Denton is your city, and together we make a difference. Here are opportunities to donate books, make online donations, and give your time and resources to the causes you love.
Animal Shelter
The Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center is funded through city tax dollars, but more is needed. We utilize donations to make animals more comfortable during their stay. They can be dropped off at the Center during business hours. We can always use:
- New or used towels, washcloths, or small blankets (no electric blankets)
- Bleach
- Dawn Dish Soap
- Tennis balls, Kong toys, or other sturdy, washable dog toys
- Wand-type cat toys and washable plastic ball cat toys
- For a full list of needed pet supplies, visit the Animal Services: Volunteer & Donate page
Contact the Center at (940) 349-7594 or email the Center.
Denton Animal Support Foundation
Your donation will be placed where most needed, or you may direct your donation to the purpose of your choice. View the Denton Animal Support Foundation.
P-L-U-S One
Sometimes citizens experience short-term financial emergencies, which prevent them from paying for vital utility services. The P-L-U-S One program – Prevent Loss of Utility Service – helps families keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. You can help by contacting a Customer Service representative at (940) 349-8700.
The amount that you pledge will be added to your monthly bill. Each month, the funds contributed to the program are forwarded to Interfaith Ministries, which disburses the funds to families to help maintain their utility service. Contributions are tax-deductible, and you may discontinue at any time.
Emily Fowler Library Foundation
The Emily Fowler Library Foundation supports Denton Public Library by providing resources for services and enhancements above the library’s annual budget. General gifts support large-scale projects that benefit the Denton community. Specific gifts may be made to fund capital projects, library furnishings, and equipment. Naming rights for library meeting rooms, collections, and buildings are also options for giving. Bequests are gratefully acknowledged at each library location. For more information, call Director of Libraries Jennifer Bekker at (940) 349-8753.
Donate Items to the Library
We welcome donations of used materials such as books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. Each person donating will receive a blank receipt form that can be used for tax purposes. Once donated, items become the property of the Denton Public Library. Uses for donated items include:
- Given to the Friends of the Denton Public Library for resale
- Given to area charities of organizations
- Used for prizes or giveaways in library programs
- Added to collections
- Recycled
Donations are limited to 2 grocery bags or boxes not to exceed 15 by 14 by 20, per day, per household. Donations are only accepted at North Branch Library, 3020 N Locust Street, during regular open hours. For more information, contact Randy Simmons at (940) 349-8741.
