Bulky Waste
Bulky items are normal household items that won’t fit in a trash cart. Items not eligible for pickup through the bulky item service include construction/remodeling materials and trash bags.
As a resident, up to 2 bulky items may be scheduled for collection each week for no additional fee. Additional items may be scheduled at $5 per item. If there is more material at the curb than what was scheduled, it will be collected and charged at the residential remodeling rate of $25 per cubic yard.
To schedule a bulky item pick-up, call Customer Service at (940) 349-8700 at least one business day prior to your collection day. Customers may also use the Residential Solid Waste Service request form to schedule bulky item collection before 3 PM one business day before your collection. Large items can also be taken to the City of Denton Landfill; fees will apply.
Trash bags will no longer be scheduled for collection as bulky items. For more details, see the "Extra Trash Bag Collection Fee" info below.
Items that can be collected for an additional fee include:
- Construction and demolition waste such as lumber, brick, fencing, drywall, carpet, and fixtures.
- Televisions, monitors, laptops, or anything with a screen.
- Any appliances containing PCBs or refrigerants such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, or water coolers. Refrigerants are disposed of properly at a permitted disposal facility.
Extra Trash Bag Collection Fee
Trash bags left outside of trash carts will no longer be picked up as bulky items. Instead, residents can have extra trash bags picked up for $5 per bag for each bag left outside of their trash cart. Charges will be automatically applied to your utility bill and there is no need to schedule ahead if less than 5 bags are set out at the curb. Residents do need to schedule ahead if there are 6 bags or more set out in order to ensure proper collection. Boxes of trash are not considered bulky items. Boxes full of trash will be collected and charged at the residential remodeling rate of $25 per cubic yard.
