Recycling Program
Do what Denton does - recycle right! Every Denton household is provided with a blue recycling cart. Recyclable items should be placed loose (unbagged) in your blue recycling cart. Keep recyclables empty, clean, loose, and dry.
The following items are accepted in the City of Denton's Recycling Program:
- Cardboard and boxboard (flatten boxes)
- Paper: junk mail, magazines, newspaper (no napkins, tissues, paper towels, or paper plates)
- Aluminum and steel cans (no scrap metal)
- Plastic bottles, tubs, and jugs (no plastic bags, wrap, film, or Styrofoam)
- Glass bottles and jars (remove all lids)
- Poly-coated cartons
Please do not bag your recycling. Empty recyclables directly into your blue curbside recycling cart.
If you are unsure if an item is accepted in Denton’s Recycling program, please use our Waste Wizard or email us at [email protected] When in doubt, throw it out!
The following items should not be placed in your recycling cart:
- No plastic bags, wrap, or film (please take back to a local retailer)
- No Styrofoam
- No single-use paper (no paper towels, napkins, tissues, or paper plates)
- No clothing, shoes, or textiles (take gently used items to a donation center)
- No chain, wire, hoses, or hangers of any kind
- No lumber, scrap wood, or yard waste
- No food or liquids
- No soiled food boxes
- No electronics
- No furniture
Please leave your recycling loose (unbagged) in your blue curbside recycling cart.

How to Recycle Electronics
Televisions, computers, and all other small household electronics and kitchen appliances are accepted for recycling at the City of Denton Landfill at 1527 S Mayhill Road. Televisions, computers, and other devices with a screen will have a handling fee per device. All other small household electronics and kitchen electronics will be accepted at no charge. Please erase all personal information before dropping off electronic items.
Televisions and computer monitors can be collected curbside for recycling by calling Customer Service at (940) 349-8700. A collection and handling fee will apply per device.
Recycling Drop-off Centers
The following items are accepted for recycling at the drop-off locations below, and must be sorted by material:
- Cardboard and boxboard (flatten boxes)
- Paper (junk mail, magazines, newspaper)
- Aluminum cans and steel cans (no scrap metal)
- Plastic bottles, tubs, and jugs (no plastic bags, wrap, film, or Styrofoam)
- Glass bottles and jars (remove all lids)
- Poly-coated cartons
Please do not bag your recycling. Empty your recycling directly into the receptacles at all recycling drop-off locations.
