Signs
A permit is required for all new signs including:
- All temporary banners/balloons (see also: Wind Devices)
- Refacing signs*
- Monument signs
- Pole signs
- Projecting signs
- Roof signs
- Wall signs
Submittal Requirements
Plan Submittal
Plans may be submitted online electronically through eTRAKiT or delivered in person to the Development Services at 401 N Elm Street with a set of all paper plans.
*Submit the Sign Application and a picture showing the proposed sign reface.

Fees
Based on size; visit the Commercial Permits page to view the current Schedule of Fees for more information.
*There are no fees charged for sign refaces. However, a reface application must still be submitted.

Over Street & Pole Banners
Over street and pole banners must be applied for through the Building Safety Division. Upon approval by the Building Safety Division, the applicant is responsible for delivering banners in a closed container (e.g. a box or bin) to Denton Municipal Electric at 1701-C Spencer Road, Denton, TX 76205. Denton Municipal Electric will call applicant to confirm event details. When banners are removed, applicants have five working days to retrieve banners or they will be discarded. The City of Denton is not responsible for damage to the banner that may result while it is hanging.
