In 2002, the City Council adopted the Denton Downtown Master Plan (PDF) whose primary focus is to encourage development and exploration of partnership opportunities with private investors, while ensuring that proper design practices are employed. It builds on this previous work and is a plan to accomplish the goals of the Downtown Master Plan. The plan will serve as the catalyst to achieve the goals that define the vision for the Downtown Master Plan.
In 2010, the City Council adopted the Downtown Implementation Plan (DTIP) to develop a set of physical plans and detailed recommendations to increase economic development in Downtown. The DTIP defines specific action items to be taken to implement the recommendations, and it establishes strategies for when and how these action items should be implemented.
