Fred Moore High School Student Arrested

Denton Police Department Media Release

DENTON, TX, Feb. 25, 2022 – The Denton Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old student at Fred Moore High School after a firearm was found in his backpack on Friday afternoon.

A family member reported to school administration that Marquez Reed, an Aubrey resident, potentially had a firearm in his possession. Staff quickly located the weapon and contacted officers, who detained Reed.

In an interview with officers, the student stated he did not intend to harm anyone. No threats were made toward the school or another student.

Reed was arrested for Unlawful Carrying Weapon – Places Weapons Prohibited. He is currently in the City of Denton Jail, and bail has not yet been set.
