Interested Residents Encouraged to Apply By June 15, 2022

DENTON, TX, May 31, 2022 – As of May 31, 2022, the City of Denton is accepting applications for 2022 Boards and Commissions. Residents interested in making a difference in their community are encouraged to apply. Board and commission members help shape Denton’s future by offering unique viewpoints for the City Council to consider on a variety of issues and services. Residents are encouraged to apply by June 15.

Boards and Commissions are an established feature of Denton’s municipal government. They offer citizens an opportunity to participate in the City’s governmental process. Their influence and value are significant because they lend a more diverse viewpoint for the City Council to consider.

Information about the various boards and commissions can be found on the City’s website on the Boards and Commissions page. To complete an application, click “Submit Your Application” on the top right-hand side of the Boards and Commissions webpage, or enter https://denton-tx.granicus.com/boards/forms/614/apply on your browser. Applications can only be submitted online.

After all applications are received, each member of the City Council may nominate one individual to a board. However, the opportunity does exist that any member of the City Council may nominate one additional individual to an “at-large” seat, as applicable. The City Council confirms all board and commission nominations.

Board descriptions, existing vacancies, membership size, term length/limit, enacting legislation, and staff liaison contact information can be found in the Boards tab on the City website on the Boards and Commissions webpage.  Some boards do have special qualification criteria.

Residents interested in a rewarding experience that will make a positive impact on the Denton community, may  complete an application on the Boards and Commissions webpage. Applications can be submitted at any time. For questions, the City Secretary’s Office can be reached at [email protected] or (940) 349-8309.
