[ARCHIVED] DME To Use Drones to Inspect Utility Poles and Wires

DME Drone Photo

DENTON, TX, June 9, 2022 – Beginning June 20, 2022, Constellation, a utilities contractor for Denton Municipal Electric (DME), will be flying drones to assess the utility poles and wires throughout Denton. The drones will be flown at high altitudes in the utility easements and will hover over each pole for approximately three minutes to determine where improvements are needed.

The drones allow crews to assess the condition of utilities efficiently, and without the need to disrupt residents by physically accessing the easements. As part of the inspection, the drones will photograph the infrastructure to give crews on the ground exact information about the equipment.

DME continues to improve the power quality for Denton. For more information about improvements, please visit www.cityofdenton.com.
