Every year from September 15 to October 15, Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by appreciating the community's history, heritage, and contributions of the ancestors of American citizens who came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and South and Central America.
Come celebrate with MLK Jr. Rec Center as we host our annual Hispanic Heritage Month event on September 17, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The theme is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. The keynote speaker is Lilyan Prado The event will also feature entertainment and activities for children.
Sponsors for the event include Habitat for Humanity of Denton County and photographer Alexandra Martinez.
HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH THEME: "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation."
The event will be held on September 17, 2022 from 10AM - 12PM at 1300 Wilson, Denton, TX 76205. The objectives for our celebration include:
• To increase cultural diversity
• To educate individuals on cultural celebrations and traditions
• To unite the community
This FREE event will provide a valuable service to our community and is expected to draw a large number of children, parents, and seniors from the community to participate and learn about the traditions involved in celebrating Hispanic Heritage. We will provide activities for all such as arts and crafts tables, a bounce house, and have variety of informative booths.
We are asking each participant to provide some form of material to be handed out, to demonstrate a service or product, or to provide a health screening of some sort. There is no cost to participate. Each participant will have a table and 2 chairs to display materials, business cards, and necessary equipment. Due to our large Spanish demographic, we expect some attendees may need information translated. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with families in our neighborhood and we look forward to having you participate.
