Healthy Halloween

Stay fit During Halloween

Colder weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween candy. Here are a few ways to prioritize health and fitness as the season changes from summer to fall.

Take advantage of the cooler weather with a morning walk. Studies have shown that exercising outside reduces stress and improves your mood.

Don’t “fall” off track. Stay motivated to stick to your exercise routine by enlisting a workout buddy. Or make new fitness friends by joining a group fitness workout. Denton Parks and Rec’s group exercise membership offers unlimited attendance to over 35 classes per week.

When daylight savings ends, stay in the light and join a gym. Denton Parks and Rec offers a gym membership which includes access to fitness equipment after dark. Denton Senior Center is open until 8 p.m. and North Lakes Rec Center is open until 10 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Avoid Halloween candy. Look for local places to donate excess Halloween candy. Satisfy your sweet tooth with in-season fruit such as apples, cranberries, figs, and pomegranates, or make a harvest salad with in-season vegetables.
