Wreaths Across America

Person placing a wreath on a grave of a veteran

Wreaths Across America is a program whose mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach. Annually, Wreaths Across America partners with various civic organizations, schools, scouts, and religious organizations across the country to place a wreath on each hero’s grave. National Wreaths Across America Day occurs in December. “It’s a day that has been set aside to lay wreaths at the places where we remember, honor and teach about our veterans: Cemeteries, monuments, parks… Anywhere we can pay tribute to their sacrifices.”

Locally, on December 17, 2022, at 11 a.m., the City of Denton will host a Wreaths Across America program to honor our heroes at Oakwood Cemetery, 747 East Prairie St., Denton, TX 76205. These heroes have sacrificed their lives daily and the holiday season is a perfect time to honor them.  Our goal is to have 253 wreaths placed by volunteers at our heroes’ graves. We invite community members and organizations to sponsor a wreath by visiting our website:  www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1167Sponsorship options include:

  • Individual Wreaths
  • 2 Wreaths
  • 5 Wreaths
  • 10 Wreaths
  • Custom Number of Wreaths
  • Patriot Pairs: Give a wreath and have a wreath delivered to your home or a loved-one
  • In Honor and Memory Of, which includes an optional emailed or mailed card
  • Additional merchandise may also be purchased to spread the mission of the program or volunteer to add a personal touch.

For additional information, call the American Legion Hall Senior Center, (940) 349-8298. To sign-up as a volunteer for this event visit the website: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1167.
