Internal Audit has released a new report covering the controls implemented to ensure operational divisions comply with safety training requirements, monitor safety equipment and incidents, and comply with environmental reporting requirements.
The City of Denton's Solid Waste Department has expanded safety and equipment training; however, completion and retention of training records could be improved. In addition, Department safety incidents are reported, though consistency could be improved with additional guidance. Similarly, the condition of collection trucks' safety equipment is monitored daily. The creation of inspection guidance and centralization of all instructions into division manuals could minimize risk.
