DENTON, TX, Feb. 27, 2023 – Jonathan Fleming, a 38-year-old Denton resident, is in custody following investigations into bank robberies in Denton and Flower Mound.
On Nov. 10, 2022, Denton police officers were dispatched to a robbery call at Wells Fargo in the 600 block of W. University Drive. Witnesses reported that a male with a firearm had instructed a teller to take him to the bank’s vault. He took money, exited the bank, and left in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Detectives with Denton PD and the FBI responded to begin their investigation.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22, the Flower Mound Police Department responded to a bank robbery in their city that had similarities to the Denton robbery. After receiving a tip, a subsequent investigation led detectives to identify Fleming as the suspect in both robberies.
Fleming was arrested without incident Thursday for the Flower Mound robbery. Denton PD, Flower Mound PD, and the FBI executed the warrant at Fleming’s residence in the 2100 block of W. Hickory Street.
On Monday, Denton PD detectives applied for an Aggravated Robbery arrest warrant for the Wells Fargo robbery, which was granted by a local judge. Fleming is currently in the Denton County Jail. Bail has not yet been determined for the Denton PD charge.
Denton PD greatly appreciates the assistance of the FBI and Flower Mound PD in apprehending Fleming, as well as those who submitted tips that led to his identification and arrest.
