DENTON, TX, May 4, 2023 – The Denton Fire Department received a call for a Structure Fire inside the storage unit complex at 621 S. Mayhill Road this evening at 7:45 p.m.
A DFD fire engine and ambulance arrived on scene in 4 minutes and reported heavy smoke conditions in the complex. Crews immediately initiated fire suppression operations by cutting into the storage units to find the seat of the fire.
Upon entry fire crews were met with an extensive amount of stored contents in the units making fire attack extremely difficult. There were also explosions reported from crews while extinguishing the fire. A deceased male victim was found inside one of the units during the ongoing fire operations.
DFD fire investigators are on scene, along with Denton PD CID (Criminal Investigation Division) as well as the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office.
