DENTON, TX, July 13, 2023 – Denton PD officers and detectives continue to investigate a shooting that took place in the 2600 block of W. University earlier tonight.
At approximately 8:10 p.m. Thursday, July 13, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the parking lot of Winco Foods. Upon arrival officers located one deceased adult male, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
It was quickly determined the shooter had left the scene prior to police arrival, and that there was no ongoing immediate threat to the public. Detectives also learned the male shooter did know the male victim to some degree. Their relationship to one another, and the circumstances surrounding this shooting are still being investigated.
Denton PD is not currently seeking the public’s assistance, as a person of interest has been identified. A subsequent release will follow should there be any significant developments to this case.
