Hot summer days, wagging tails, and a vibrant community—welcome to the Dog Days of Denton 2023! This year's event, hosted by the Denton Parks Foundation, promises a delightful celebration of our four-legged friends, bringing together dog lovers and their adorable companions. Get ready to experience a tail-wagging extravaganza that'll leave you barking with joy! It's time to celebrate the bond between humans and their furry companions while embracing the vibrant spirit of Denton. Denton Spiderman and Dog Mayor, Happy, will make a special appearance adding to the festivities. Get ready for a day filled with tail-wagging joy as we dive into the exciting highlights of the Dog Days of Denton 2023!

1. Doggie Bandstand:

Picture this: Denton’s very own Dick Clark and American Bandstand with a DJ spinning music from the 1950’s as contestants “two-step” and “four-step” their way into our hearts. Only one dynamic duo is left on the stage to win the contest for their “wiggle butt” moves.

2. Dog Singing:

Prepare to be amazed by the canine vocal talents at the Dog Days of Denton. Dogs of all shapes and sizes will take the stage, serenading the audience with their delightful howls and tuneful barks. From barking harmonies to drumming paws, these four-legged musicians will make your heart sing along. It's an awe-inspiring display of doggie vocals that will leave you smiling and tapping your feet.

3. Canine Couture Costume Contest:

Fashionistas, both human and canine, gather at the Canine Couture Costume Contest to witness the most stylish and imaginative doggy ensembles. From superheroes to fairytale characters, the creativity on display is remarkable. Adorable pups strut the runway, leaving everyone in awe of their fashionable attire.

4. Pet Tricks Galore:

Get ready for a showcase of astonishing pet tricks that will make you gasp in amazement. Dogs from all walks of life exhibit their incredible talents, performing gravity-defying leaps, synchronized dances, and jaw-dropping acrobatics. The Pet Tricks section of the Dog Days of Denton is guaranteed to leave you in awe of the remarkable abilities of these intelligent and well-trained pups.

5. Splash Off Contest:

As the Texas sun beats down, there's no better way for our canine friends to beat the heat than with the Splash Off Contest. Watch with delight as dogs of all shapes and sizes compete in a splash-filled extravaganza, showcasing their diving and swimming skills. The joy and excitement in the air are palpable as these water-loving canines make a big splash.

6. Biscuits and Belly Rubs: Vendor Village:

Exploring Vendor Village is a must-do during the Dog Days of Denton. Treat your pup to delicious homemade biscuits while browsing an array of dog-centric businesses offering everything from stylish collars to interactive toys. Indulge in some retail therapy, support local vendors, and maybe even find a unique keepsake for your furry companion.

7. The Bird Dogs:

Be ready and sit in the front row as the Bird Dogs hit the stage at 12:30 PM at Dog Days of Denton. Since their first gig together in 2008, the Bird Dogs have steadily entrenched in the Texas country music scene, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the business. Their music delivers a powerful blend of Texas-country, gritty rock and three-part harmonies, with songs that reflect family, love, loss, and hope for the future. Best known as co-host of the Morning Musers on KTCK The Ticket, George Dunham leads the group with Steve Porcari on electric guitar, Travis Behl on bass, Bryant "Pablo" Russell on drums and Craig McDaniel on vocals and rhythm guitar, this line-up consistently delivers exciting live performances.
