DENTON, TX, Aug. 13, 2023 – The suspect responsible for multiple aggravated robberies that took place Thursday evening has been identified and arrested.
On Thursday, August 10 at 5:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to an aggravated robbery at The Local Shop, located in the 400 block of Coronado Drive. It was reported that an unknown suspect entered the location, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene.
A short time later, at 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a separate aggravated robbery in the 1200 block of E. University Drive at the Exxon. The suspect matched the description from the previous incident and attempted to purchase a drink. When the cash register was opened, the suspect began grabbing money out of the register. When employees attempted to stop him, the suspect displayed a handgun. The suspect then took cash from the register and fled the scene.
During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect in both robberies as 24-year-old Alejandro Jaine Turco. Detectives were then able to locate Turco and take him into custody on August 11 for outstanding warrants. Turco was additionally charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
This arrest was a team effort between multiple units of the police department, and the brave store clerks and witnesses who were able to provide our investigators with vital information.
