The $309,590,000 bond program placed before voters spans eight (8) propositions: Streets, Drainage and Flood Control, Park System, Public Safety, Affordable Housing, Active Adult Center, South Branch Library, and City Hall West.

DENTON, TX, Aug. 16, 2023 - The Denton City Council has called a 2023 bond election to take place on Nov. 7, 2023. The $309,590,000 bond program placed before voters spans eight (8) propositions: Streets, Drainage and Flood Control, Park System, Public Safety, Affordable Housing, Active Adult Center, South Branch Library, and City Hall West. Information regarding propositions and associated projects can be found on the City of Denton website at www.cityofdenton.com/2023bond

This step is the culmination of a longer process to evaluate the infrastructure and service requirements within the community. In April 2023, the City Council established a Special Citizen's Bond Advisory Committee comprising 40 residents, whose role was to assess proposed bond projects and make a recommendation for City Council consideration. The committee met a total of seven (7) times from late May through early July and collaborated on a final recommendation to the Council.

On July 25, 2023, Special Citizen's Bond Advisory Committee Chair and Chair Pro Tem presented their comprehensive recommendations to the City Council. On Aug. 1, 2023, the City Council gave staff direction to prepare an ordinance calling for a November bond election and which projects to include in that election call.  In its direction to staff, the Council modified the committee recommendation to include additional funding for a new South Branch Library and the inclusion of roadway improvements to Ruddell St. between Mingo and McKinney.
