DENTON, TX, Oct. 11, 2023 – On Thursday, Oct. 5, the award-winning Denton Television (DTV) team of the City’s of Denton’s Marketing & Communications Department, which includes Denton Television (DTV) video production staff, was recognized as a finalist in multiple four award categories by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA). In conjunction with its annual conference at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, CA, the 38th Annual Government Programming Awards honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia, and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year, NATOA received more than 950 entries submitted by local governments across the United States.
Award categories cover a variety of programming, including videography, social media, use of humor, ethnic experience, community events, documentary, public affairs and public service, interview/talk show, performing arts, sports, election coverage, and more.
The City of Denton finished runner-up in four categories and honorable mention in two others. The four categories in which the City received the Award of Distinction are: Public Affairs - Denton: State of the City; Library - Summer Reading Challenge; Animal Services – Animal Shelter Thanksgiving; and Profile of a City/County Department or Employee – Employee Spotlight – Jeremiah Tillman-David. The two Award of Honor categories include: Instruction/Training – We Otter Talk About It and Senior – Senior Center Ceramics.
