DENTON, TX, Oct. 11, 2023 – In alignment with the City of Denton’s Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development and the Denton Affordable Housing Strategic Toolkit, the City of Denton is submitting an application for a $10 million grant from the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing grant program. As part of the process, the City is accepting public comment on the application from Thursday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Oct. 26, 2023. Additionally, a virtual public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. to gather additional feedback from the community. Information on how to register for the public hearing and provide public comment are available at www.cityofdenton.com/communitydevelopment along with a draft version of the application.
About the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing grant program: Under the authority of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has appropriated $85 million for competitive grant funding for the identification and removal of barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. The Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing grant program empowers communities that are actively taking steps to remove barriers to affordable housing and seeking to increase housing production and lower housing costs for families over the long term.
