On Saturday, October 14, 2023, the grand opening of the highly anticipated Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center was held. This facility is the ultimate destination for tennis and pickleball players. With a budget of $5.19 million dollars, made possible by the Denton voters' approval of the 2014 Bond Project, we are excited to finally have the doors open.
The Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center is a testament to our community's commitment to providing great recreational facilities. Boasting an impressive array of amenities, the center features 12 tennis courts, catering to both seasoned players and eager newcomers. Additionally, there are eight pickleball courts, allowing enthusiasts of all ages to engage in this exciting and rapidly growing sport.
In addition to the courts, the Denton Tennis & Pickleball Center showcases a captivating sculpture named "Serve." This piece of art was created by the local artist Christine Sanders, in collaboration with a local manufacturer 23 Design Co. The sculpture graces the entrance of the courts, resting upon a solid concrete plinth. "Serve" features two interlocked rackets elegantly intertwined within a curving helix of tennis balls. The rackets themselves are adorned with mosaic tilework, showcasing the artist's creative vision.
The grand opening was a huge success with over 400 people in attendance. We were honored to have Mayor Gerard Hudspeth present to perform the “first serve” on the courts.
The Parks and Recreation department offers tennis and pickleball classes, leagues, and private lessons to all skill levels. If you are a seasoned enthusiast or looking to try something new, we have something for you.
