[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: 2023 Day of the Dead Festival

DENTON, TX, Oct. 26, 2023 – The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.: 

  • E. Hickory Street from N. Locust Street to Oakland Street
  • E. Oak Street from N. Locust Street to Oakland Street
  • Industrial Street from E. Mulberry Street to E. Hickory Street
  • S. Austin Street from E. Walnut Street to W. Pecan Street 

The Twilight Lantern Parade is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, and will utilize the streets surrounding the Square. The public should anticipate temporary closures along the route until the conclusion of the parade. 

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based on evolving or unexpected conditions. The public should expect parking restrictions along the streets and utilize designated public parking locations. 

Due to an increased pedestrian presence, motorists could encounter possible delays if in the vicinity of the Day of the Dead Festival and may wish to consider alternative routes.
