Denton business, Bunch Bikes was named Small Business of the Year by the Denton Economic Development Partnership Board. Aaron Powel, a former Denton teacher, started Bunch Bikes in 2017 and has grown the business substantially, including an increase in sales during the pandemic that led the company to need to expand to a larger space in Denton, doubling its footprint. Each year the Economic Development Partnership Board recognizes a small and large business for their contribution to the economic growth and prosperity of the Denton community. Businesses are nominated by the Economic Development Partnership Board members for such worthy contributions as public/private partnerships, job creation, community relations and support, longevity and commitment to the community, leadership in their respective industry, successful business practices, innovation, and environmental stewardship. Recipient selection criteria previously adopted by the Economic Development Partnership Board is utilized to aid in the nomination and selection of a recipient company. Consideration is for business exhibiting these characteristics September 2020 – August 2021.
