Chris Watts was elected as Councilmember Place 6 in May 2022.
He previously served three terms as a single-district Council Member from 2007-2013 and as Mayor from 2014-2020.
Councilmember Watts graduated from Denton High School before going on to the University of North Texas and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in Counseling Education and Student Services. In 1990 Councilmember Watts switched his career path from computer programmer and analyst to real estate broker and investor. Councilmember Watts has owned and operated a real estate investment firm for more than 30 years. He later attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M School of Law) and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2000.
