1. When does registration open?

Registration for the 2023 Tree Giveaway opens Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. CST.

2. How do I register?

Register online at www.dentonparkscatalog.com. If you have issues using our registration software, you may also call (940) 349-7275 to register over the phone.

3. Do I need an account to register?

Yes, an account is required for registration. Save time by creating your account before the registration date at www.dentonparkscatalog.com. If you need help creating an account, call (940) 349-7275.

4. Am I eligible to receive a free tree?

The giveaway is limited to City of Denton residents; one tree per household on a first come, first served basis. Denton County residents outside of Denton city limits and residents who live within ETJ areas are not eligible to receive a tree. To check your residency status, visit www.dentoncad.com.

5. Why is there a limit of one free tree per household?

By limiting each household to one tree, we can help both you and your neighbor!

6. Will you run out of trees this year?

YES! We have just 700 trees to offer, so registration typically fills up quickly. Trees are available by registration only, on a first come, first served basis – while supplies last! 

7. How quickly do you anticipate registration to close?

Very quickly! Registration typically fills within the first few hours after opening. 

8. If registration fills up, will you order more trees?

No, we will not order more trees once registration has filled. We have a limited budget for purchasing trees each year and offer the most we can. 

9. I missed registration. Can I still receive a tree?

If you missed registration, we encourage you to join our waiting list. At the end of the event, we frequently have trees that are not picked up, but still need a home. After the last pickup time, we allow registered waiting list participants to enter the event and choose from the leftover trees. They are limited to one per household and are first come, first served.

10. I can’t make it to the event. Should I still register?

Please do not register if you cannot attend the event. However, you may register if you plan to arrange for someone else to pick up your tree on your behalf. They must bring a copy of your proof of residency. No alternate pick-up dates can be arranged – the Community Tree Giveaway is a one-day-only event. 

11. Will I need a truck or trailer to pick up my tree?

Depending on the species, trees range anywhere from 3 to 8 feet tall and can be transported by car or truck – no trailer is needed. The trees distributed through this event can typically fit in a small car. For taller varieties, we can easily arrange your tree so that it sticks out the window. Please do not come on foot or by bicycle to pick up your tree. If desired, line your car with newspapers prior to the event.
