Deputy Chief Paul Willenbrock has been serving the City of Denton since 2000, starting as a police officer after serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He assumed the role of Deputy Chief in 2019 and currently supervises the Operations Bureau, which entails most uniformed services provided by the department. During his time at the department, Deputy Chief Willenbrock's assignments included patrol, field training officer, and certified instructor. As a sergeant, he supervised patrol with subsequent assignments supervising the Community Response Team and the Training Section of the department. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018 and assigned as a Patrol Commander.
Deputy Chief Willenbrock graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He holds a Master Peace Officer License and numerous instructor certifications. He has been assigned to the Denton Tactical Unit (SWAT) since 2004 filling roles of squad and team leader before being assigned as SWAT Commander. He currently acts as the Tactical Operations Unit Commander over the SWAT and Negotiations teams.
