Phase 2 will include similar improvements including drainage upgrades and pavement repair along the UPRR ROW from Hickory Street to Mulberry Street, Mulberry Street from the UPRR to Russell Street, and on Sycamore Street from Industrial Street to Bell Street. Construction is expected to begin after the design is complete.
January 20: Phase 1 of the project is located at McKinney Street to Hickory Street and Oak Street from Oakland Street to the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). Weather permitting, the timeline for construction in this phase is Monday, Feb. 1 until Friday, Sept. 10.
To allow crews to safely complete construction, the following roadways will have intermittent lane closures in place while crews are present:
- McKinney Street from Railroad Avenue to Bell Avenue;
- Oak Street at Bell Street to the UPRR; and
- Bell Avenue from McKinney Street to Hickory Street
One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction throughout construction. Signage will be posted to alert motorists of the temporary traffic restrictions and reduced speed limit in the construction area.
A notice to proceed for construction activities has been issued for Phase 1 of this project. Construction for Phase 1 (Oak Street from Oakland Street to the UPRR) is expected to begin in the coming weeks. Construction for Phase 1 is currently expected to be complete by September 2021.
The design for Phase 2 is continuing to progress and is expected to be complete by January 2021. Right-of-way agreements are required for this phase of the project and may impact the tentative timeline. Following the completion of the design phase, the project will begin the bid/advertise/award phase.
