Project Status



Final improvements to the irrigation system, lighting, fencing and concrete work were completed December 2019, and the North Lakes Dog Park is now open to the public. The official grand opening event is scheduled for April 2020.

Project Background

The new 3.65-acre dog park will be located at North Lakes Park, near the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center. The park will feature three separate play areas and a fourth small flexible area for play, agility, and/or dog obedience programs. Amenities being considered are based on community feedback and include shade structure(s), dog agility equipment, human and dog water fountains, waste stations, benches, and picnic tables.
 

Project Updates

December 19: The North Lakes Dog Park is now open to the public. The new dog park features three separate play areas and a fourth small flexible area for play, agility, and/or dog obedience programs. With active construction on Windsor Drive, residents can park in the parking lot behind the recycling center, next to the model airplane airfield, or at the Vela Athletic Complex. The Denton Parks Foundation is actively raising funds for additional seating and shade structures. The official grand opening event is scheduled for April 2020.

August 1: The City broke ground at the North Lakes Dog Park site in April 2019. Currently, the irrigation system is being constructed, electrical is being installed for ambient lighting, and final bids are being considered for the park's fencing and concrete work. Construction is scheduled to completed by December 2019.
