Airport

Denton Enterprise Airport (DTO) is the premier general aviation facility for North Texas, offering a full range of aeronautic services. DTO serves a number of major companies for transportation of cargo, personnel, vendors, and prospective clients. The Airport is also the base of operations for law enforcement and search and rescue operations, including CareFlite.

Building Inspections

Building Inspections monitors compliance with the City of Denton’s building codes, ordinances and amendments. The division is responsible for issuing permits, reviewing plans and performing inspections on all aspects of the building process to verify compliance with building codes. These codes are designed specifically to ensure the safety of the structure.

City Attorney's Office

The City Attorney’s Office represents the City of Denton and its authorized representatives in civil and administrative litigation, as well as the State of Texas in municipal court prosecutions. Criminal prosecutions, other than municipal court violations, are handled by the Denton County District Attorney.

City Manager's Office

The City Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of Council policies and priorities throughout city government. We accomplish this responsibility by coordinating the official business of the City Council, by providing leadership and direction to the City organization, by conducting municipal and special elections, by maintaining the official records of the city, by responding to requests for information and assistance. The City Manager and staff act as liaisons among City Council, citizens and City organizations.

City Secretary's Office

Consumer Health

The Consumer Health Division manages the food service industry and public health issues, including public and semi-public swimming pools located within the city. The city currently hosts an ever-growing number of restaurants and food establishments. Included in this are all fixed restaurants, convenience stores, delis, grocery stores, school cafeterias, food cart vendors and mobile food units. The Consumer Health Division inspects these places for public safety and sanitation.

Denton Television

Denton Television (DTV) is the City’s government access channel available through Frontier FiOS channel 38, Charter channel 194, and Grande channel 12. DTV is also streamed live 24/7 on the City’s website. Programming includes City Council meetings, public meetings, DTV Newsbreak, Denton’s Dirty Jobs, and educational programming about City departments and initiatives. Video programs produced by DTV are also available on the City’s YouTube channel.

Emergency Management

The Fire Department's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is charged with coordinating the City of Denton's emergency management program. Activities include developing emergency plans, offering disaster preparedness training, conducting drills and exercises, and participating in public education programs. The program operates through the four phases of emergency management in order to properly prepare for disasters, coordinate response efforts, provide timely recovery assistance, and implement projects to try to prevent and/or lessen the impacts of disasters. OEM works with numerous public, private, and nonprofit agencies in order to help ensure the City of Denton is a safe place to live, work, and visit.

Engineering Services

The Engineering Services Department consist of the Engineering, Development Review Engineering, Inspections and the Real Estate Division. The Engineering Services Department coordinates and manages the City's Capital Improvement Projects. Related services include, project development, real estate acquisition, design and data gathering, project management, construction inspection, and contract administration. The department assists with the review of development proposals in the areas of utilities, transportation, access management and drainage. The department also records plats and maintains record drawing information of infrastructure, standard details and benchmarking information.

Fire/Rescue

Since 1874, the Denton Fire/Rescue Department has provided first-responder support to the greater Denton community. The Department is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health and safety in the City of Denton and beyond through innovative programs, advanced training, and professional service and is responsible for fire suppression, fire prevention and education, emergency medical services, and disaster preparedness.

Fleet Services, a division of the Transportation Department, provides all City-operating departments with total vehicle management, specifications, procurement, service and repair, as well as assisting Materials Management with asset disposal through online auction support. Materials Management

Materials Management, a division of the Finance Department, consists of Purchasing and Distribution Center. Solid Waste

The Solid Waste Department is the sole provider of residential and commercial trash collections, as well as residential recycling collections. The department also offers commercial recycling collection services in the City of Denton. Additionally, the department operates a community landfill and a home chemical collection center for City of Denton residents, and the campus is home to the privately operated municipal recycling facility.

Streets

The Streets Division is responsible for repairing potholes, minor street failures, sidewalk, curb and gutter repair, and utility cuts made by various franchises. Major street maintenance is also done (reconstruction including seal coating, overlays and heat scarification) to city streets.
