DENTON, TX, May 17, 2019 – On Friday, May 17 at approximately 1:23 p.m., Denton Public Safety Dispatch received multiple calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on the northbound I-35 E Service Road in front of Medical City Denton. Denton Police and Fire/Rescue responded to the scene and located a motorcycle that had struck a utility pole on the east side of the roadway.

Traffic Unit Crash Investigators were called to the scene. Their preliminary investigation determined that the 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on the I-35 E Service Road. The vehicle left the east side of the roadway, entering the grass ditch, and then striking a nearby utility pole. The male driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene.

Investigators are still working to determine why the motorcycle left the roadway and if speed was a factor in the crash. The driver is not being named at this time, pending notification of family members. This is the eighth motor vehicle fatality crash in the City of Denton in 2019.
