DENTON, TX, May 20, 2019 – On Sunday, May 19 at approximately 11:17 p.m., Denton Public Safety Dispatch received a call reporting a home invasion robbery in the 300 block of Egan. The caller stated that two unknown male suspects kicked in the front door of her residence and that her boyfriend was still in the home struggling with one of the suspects.
Officers responded to the scene and received reports that the suspects had fled down Anna St. A perimeter was set, and a Denton Police K-9 unit responded to assist with the search as well as a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter. After an exhaustive search, the suspects were not located.
The male victim stated that during the struggle, he believes one suspect may have sustained a laceration. Local hospitals were alerted, but as of now, no patients had presented with related injuries.
The male victim sustained multiple injuries including a laceration to his head, upper lip, and his left knee. The female victim was unharmed, but due to her pregnancy, both elected to self-transport to the hospital to be medically cleared.
The scene was processed for evidence, and it is believed that narcotics may have been a contributing factor. The investigation is ongoing, but Denton PD has no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
