Ethics Ordinance Development

The Denton City Council is working to develop an ethics ordinance. If you would like to learn more and follow the progress, continue to check this page for updates and meeting information.

A Charter Election was held on November 7, 2017 for the purpose of submitting to voters five propositions for amendments to the Denton City Charter. A Charter Review Committee was created in order to provide recommendations to City Council on possible changes.
Proposition D required the adoption of an ethics ordinance by the City Council in accordance with Texas law and with adherence to certain minimum standards. The results of the Charter Election were certified on November 20, 2017 and Proposition D was approved. The City Council hired an outside attorney Alan Bojorquez on November 14, 2017 to assist and facilitate the development of an ethics ordinance.
If you would like to provide a comment about elements of an ethics ordinance, please fill out the form below and the comment will be shared with the City Council during the process.
