Currently, crews from the Streets Department are completing street reconstruction on Hickory Street from Fry Street to Welch Street. During this time, the street is temporarily closed to traffic. Signage is posted to alert motorists of the temporary closure and detour route in place.
The reconstruction of Hickory Street (Bonnie Brae to Carroll) is expected to be complete by fall 2019. The project includes upgrading the roadway, water, wastewater, gas, and electric utilities in the area, which will result in a corridor that will last for the next 40 years.
Drainage and street improvements were recently completed on Hickory Street from Avenue B to Fry Street. Crews are now completing street reconstruction from Fry Street to Welch Street. Crews began street reconstruction from Avenue B to Fry Street and wastewater main replacement at the intersection of Fry Street. To allow crews to safely complete the improvements, a section of Hickory Street from Avenue B to Fry Street will be temporarily closed.
: The Streets Department recently completed Phase III of the project from Avenue C to Avenue B. Completed improvements to date include:
- Sewer and utility improvements from Bonnie Brae Street to N. Carroll Boulevard
- Full street reconstruction from Bonnie Brae Street to Avenue B. Due to the deteriorating condition of the the street, improvements have been made to stabilize the subgrade and new asphalt has been paved.
- Curb and gutter repairs. Crews removed failed sections of the curb and installed new concrete.
As crews continue to complete the improvements, please use caution when traveling in the area and expect potential delays.
