Improvements are being completed for Phase I of this multi-phase project. Crews are installing 10,000 linear feet of 36-inch and 42-inch water main along Bonnie Brae Street from Highland Park Street to Willowwood Street. To allow crews to safely complete the construction, Bonnie Brae Street from Highland Park Street to Willowwood Street is temporarily closed to traffic.
To accommodate growth, increase capacity, and improve water services, Phase I includes the installation of 10,000 linear feet of 36-inch and 42-inch water mains along Bonnie Brae from Roselawn Drive to I-35E, which is currently under construction and is expected to be complete by late October 2019. Phase II includes the installation of 4,900 linear feet of 42-inch main along Bonnie Brae Street from I-35E to Scripture Street, construction is expected to begin January 2020.
September 13: Bonnie Brae Street from Highland Park Street to Willowwood Street is temporarily closed. This closure will allow City contractor crews to safely install the new water main below and across the railroad tracks in the area. The project timeline has been impacted due to several unforeseen conflicts, including:
- Initial delivery of incorrect excavation equipment,
- Initial delivery of damaged materials, and
- Weather delays
The City has worked with the contractor to correct the equipment and material conflicts. At this time, new materials have been manufactured and delivered to the project site with the proper equipment. The closure of Bonnie Brae Street from Highland Park Street to Willowwood Street is now updated to reopen to traffic Sunday, October 13. The current detour route
is still in place and motorists are encouraged use caution when traveling in the area.
