Fire Station No. 8

Project Status

Construction is scheduled to begin Fall 2019 with an anticipated opening date in Fall 2020.

Project Background

Fire Station No. 8 will be built near the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Brinker Road to serve the growing areas in southeast Denton, businesses in the medical district, and areas near I-35E, Mayhill Road, and State School Road. The new station will be an 8,500-square-foot station with space for six firefighters. It will also be the home of a new fire engine, Engine 8. Medic 8, already in service, will move from its temporary location at Medical City Denton, to the new station. Design will start in early 2019, with a planned in-service date of late fall 2020.

Project Updates

August 1: Design of the new 8,500-square-foot station has been completed. The permitting process began this summer and is scheduled to be complete this fall. Fire Station No. 8 is proposed to be included in the potential 2019 bond package for funding, and, if approved, is expected to break ground spring 2020. The planned opening date is spring 2021.
