Currently, TxDOT crews are working on the new northbound overpasses at Loop 288 and Brinker Road. Once those are completed this spring, traffic will shift to the new lanes so that work can begin on the southbound overpasses.
To accommodate mobility needs, I-35E is being expanded. When construction is complete, motorists will enjoy expanded lane capacity on I-35E and much improved mobility through the Loop 288/Lillian Miller, Brinker Road, and Mayhill Road underpasses. Beginning, 9 p.m. Friday, March 29, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will temporarily close all main lanes of the Loop 288 underpass at Interstate 35E. This closure will allow crews to safely deconstruct the existing bridge on the southbound side of the I35E bridge over Loop 288, and to place drainage across Loop 288 on the northbound side.
Weather and contractor scheduling may impact the plan, but TxDOT expects to reopen all lanes by 6 a.m. Monday, April 1.
TxDOT will have signed detours for traffic on Loop 288, Lillian Miller Road and both Frontage Roads. Please use caution and expect potential delays if your route includes this area.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to shift traffic on IH35E to newly constructed lanes next week.
- Weather permitting, Tuesday, March 19 at 10 p.m., IH35E northbound main lane traffic will switch onto the newly constructed northbound main lanes.
- Weather permitting, Wednesday, March 20 at 10 p.m., IH35E southbound main lane traffic will switch onto the newly constructed northbound main lanes.
The IH35E southbound exit ramp to Mayhill/State School Road/FM 2499 will be closed after the traffic switch is completed. All traffic will be exiting at the Loop 288 exit southbound to access Mayhill/State School Road/FM 2499. A new IH35E southbound exit ramp is scheduled to be constructed and opened within a week after the closure. TxDOT will notify the City of Denton regarding the planned opening of the new ramp and updates will be shared.
Please use caution in construction areas, adhere to posted construction signage, and expect potential delays if your route includes these areas..
