Project Status

Construction crews are currently working on street improvements on Roselawn Dr. (US 377-Bernard) and street widening at US 377 (Fort Worth Dr.) from IH 35E to south of FM 1830. Utility work has already started, which includes relocating the water and sewer lines to enable the future road construction. When the roadwork begins later this year, motorists won't see major impacts to the roadway at first, as new northbound lanes will be constructed on the east side of the existing roadway. Once those are complete, traffic will be shifted to the new lanes to allow reconstruction of the existing lanes.

Project Background

The US 377 project will increase mobility on a major Denton thoroughfare by widening the two-lane rural roadway to a six-lane divided roadway, installing a new railroad overpass, and adding capacity to the Hobson Lane/FM 1830 (Country Club Road) intersection. The project is planned for completion in late 2020.

Project UPDATES

October 9: Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin switching southbound traffic on US 377 from I-35E to Massey Street at 7 A.M., Thursday, October 10. This traffic switch will move southbound traffic to the newly constructed concrete paving on US 377 from I-35E to the railroad bridge, just before Massey Street. Traffic control flaggers will continue to manage traffic in the area until Saturday, October 12 as crews complete re-striping under the bridge at I-35E. Through, business, and local traffic will be maintained during this time.

Message boards are in place to alert drivers in preparation for the traffic switch. Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling in the area and seek alternate routes, if possible.

September 15: Waterline and sanitary sewer bores continue to progress throughout the project area (IH 35E to just south of FM 1830). Storm sewer and temporary shoring on the Union Pacific Railroad(UPRR) right-of-way has been installed. A temporary traffic signal is now installed on US 377 at Daniels Street intersection. Crews are welding track, setting ties for the railroad track construction, and paving the northbound lanes of the railroad bridge on US 377. Throughout the month of September motorists will see crews installing sidewalk, completing grading, and paving detour pavement on the southbound side of US 377 from the UPRR bridge to FM 1830.

------

July 17: Crews are currently completing waterline and sanitary sewer bores throughout the entire project area (IH 35E to just south of FM 1830). To relieve congestion for motorists coming north on 377, in the coming weeks TxDOT will add additional pavement to allow motorists to make right turns to go south on Frontage Road. In the next phase of construction, storm sewer installation, asphalt paving on northbound US 377 north of the Union Pacific bridge, and temporary traffic signal installation at Daniels Street and FM 1830 will be completed.

May 30: Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., traffic control flaggers will be in place at Hobson Lane at the intersection of FM 1830/Country Club Road. During this time, crews will be completing pavement repairs due to recent utility work. Signage will be posted to alert motorist of the traffic control flaggers, please use caution when traveling in the area. Delays and backup are possible so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate route.

April 8: Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., traffic control flaggers will be in place at US 377/Fort Worth Drive from I-35E to south of FM 1830/Country Club Road. During this time, crews will be gathering coring samples of the existing pavement to determine the thickness of the roadway as part of the ongoing road widening project.

Signage alerting motorists of the traffic control flaggers will be in place during this time, please use caution when traveling in the area. Delays and backups are possible so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Wednesday, March 20 at 9 a.m., US 377/Fort Worth Drive, from I-35E to Roselawn Drive, southbound traffic lanes will shift onto the newly constructed northbound lanes. Northbound traffic will be shifted onto the existing southbound lanes to allow crews to safely continue improvements for the ongoing project.

The traffic shift is expected to be complete by 3:30 p.m. March 20, weather permitting. Signage alerting motorists of the lane shifts and traffic control flaggers will be in place during this time, please use caution in the construction zone. Delays and backups are possible so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
