Denton Independent School District (DISD) will begin making capital maintenance improvements to the Denton Natatorium (NAT) on Thursday, Nov. 14 and potentially Friday, Nov. 15. DISD and the City of Denton operate the NAT through a joint use agreement to provide the public and DISD students with year-round access to an indoor competition pool and leisure pool.
In May 2018, voters approved approximately $1.4 million through the DISD bond election to fund capital maintenance at the NAT to include replacing four roof top units (RTUs), as well as replacing the Dectron Dehumidification System and re-plastering the competition pool.
The work to replace the RTUs is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14 and will have the following impact on NAT guests:
- Beginning at 5 a.m., handicap parking spaces on the front row of the parking lot will be closed. Signs are posted to assist with the location of alternative parking.
- The following areas of the NAT will not be heated during repairs: locker rooms, restrooms, family change rooms, the hallway and foyer, offices, and classroom.
- The competition pool and leisure pool water temperatures and the pool deck air temperature will not be impacted.
The contractor anticipates completing repairs by end of day Thursday, although repairs may extend to Friday as well.
We apologize to any NAT visitors for the inconvenience. Updates on repairs will be available online at www.dentonparks.com
and on the Denton Parks Facebook page
. For real-time updates, please call NAT Guest Services at (940) 349-8800. The NAT is located at 2400 Long Rd., Denton, TX.
