100+ Solar Systems Installed in Denton

4/28/2017 12:00:00 AM

As of April 2017, more than 100 Denton Municipal Electric customers have installed solar panels on their homes and businesses.
Eighty-six of these installations have been on residential rooftops, while sixteen have been on commercial buildings. Denton Municipal Electric incentivizes solar installations at up to $30,000 through the GreenSense Rebate Program.

The 102 new photovoltaic solar systems have a combined capacity of 632 kW and are expected to produce approximately 1,137 MWh per year. The average resident uses about 1,300 kWh per month, which means the systems in place now can offset 100 percent of the power for approximately 73 homes.
