    Les Mills BODYPUMP™ 
    This 60 minute resistance training workout is the fastest way to tone up and lose body fat! Using the best weight-room exercises such as squats, presses, lifts, and curls, you’ll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning. 

    Les Mills BODYCOMBAT™ 
    The 60 minute fiercely energetic cardio workout where you will punch, kick, and kata your way through calories to superior cardiovascular fitness. 

    Les Mills BODYJAM™ 
    That pop song you love right now? It’s in BODYJAM. Dance your butt off, get a killer workout, and burn an average of 500 calories while you’re at it. Whether you’ve got two left feet or fancy yourself as Beyonce’s back up dancer, you will love this 60-minute cardio dance class! Pop, Hip-hop, House, and all styles of electronic dance music are the soul of BODYJAM. Open to all bodies, of any fitness level. 


    Les Mills BODYFLOW™ 
    This 60 minute workout mixes Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates to build flexibility and strength then leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration, and a carefully structured series of stretches and poses create a holistic workout.

    Les Mills CXWORX™ 
    A 30 minute core training workout that incorporates strength training to hone in on the torso and sling muscles that connect the upper body to the lower body. Ideal for tightening the core area while improving strength and assisting in injury prevention. 
    Indoor Cycling 
    Burn massive amounts with this 45 minute workout! Cycling strengthens core and lower body muscles while improving cardiovascular health. 

    Indoor Cycling/Les Mills CXWORX™ Hybrid
    Burn calories and tighten your core with 30 minutes of indoor cycling followed by 30 minutes of abdominal training. The training includes full-body resistance training to strengthen and tone. 

    Zumba® 
    Exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing low impact cardio fitness. 

    Senior Fit 
    Led by a certified personal trainer and designed to improve bone density, muscle strength, cardiovascular fitness, joint mobility, and flexibility. The class uses hand weights, elastic tubing, and low-impact aerobics for all levels to adapt.

    Senior Yoga
    Gain balance, flexibility, range of motion, hip-joint mobility, and increase bone density and core strength in this 60 minute yoga class specifically designed for seniors. Choose chair support or free standing for a series of mat and standing yoga poses modified to all fitness levels.

    Twisted Bodies™ Essential Yoga
    Essential Yoga classes are powerful learning experiences in which you re-discover your body, how it works, and what it can do. Learn the basic poses, alignment, breathing practices, moving with the breath, relaxation techniques, and more. Gain an understanding  of body mechanics, and how to apply yoga to your life and physical and spiritual needs. Register by the week before the start of each month to avoid program cancellations. Ages 17+

    Aerial Skills Intro
    This Twisted Bodies™ class is an athletic, circus art discipline most often associated with Cirque du Soleil that involves paired lengths of fabric hung from above that are climbed, wrapped around the body, and/or tied to create drops, poses, and movement above the ground.

    Learn basic skills, safety of aerial silks, how to safely tie footlocks, invert, drop, and more. Each class will combine elements of gymnastics and dance with use of the silk to get off the ground and into the air. Participation builds strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Classes are taught by Level 1 Certified Aerial Silks instructors and are Born To Fly™ Certified. Ages 17+

  • LES MILLS GRIT™
    Join LES MILLS GRIT™ 

    GRIT™ is a series of highly challenging HIIT workouts suitable for those who are ready to take their fitness level up a notch.

    Be willing to work to your max as you power through 30-minute high-intensity plyometric, cardio, tabata, and power weight training workouts designed to burn fat and produce a lean, athletic shape. With the team comradery of small group training and individual motivation from a highly-charged certified coach, you will finally achieve the results you are training for.

    Registration
    Every Tuesday and Thursday, 5 p.m. and Saturday, 7:30 a.m.

    What is GRIT™ and the Science Behind it? 
    GRIT™ is high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Short, intense bursts of effort followed by periods of recovery. The basic recipe? Go as hard as you can for a short period of time, rest, and then repeat. It’s the intervals that allow you to keep pushing into your max effort training zone. 

    Studies have shown that HIIT training, when coupled with resistance training, can decrease waist circumference and internal abdominal fat while accelerating changes in body composition, strength, and cardiovascular fitness.

    There’s no disputing it. It’s scientifically proven that HIIT cardio training drives you to burn calories for hours after the workout, increase aerobic fitness, unleash fast-twitch muscle fibers and grow lean muscle tissue, burning fat. But don’t take our word for it.

    TriKona Yoga
    The toughest workout you'll ever love! This one-of-a-kind and innovative class is designed to include the challenging movements of active yoga and functional weight training that is based on human movement in all planes of motion. It’s an intense focus on the core. 

    Every Monday and Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. 
    $50 per month at North Lakes Rec Center

    Boot Camp
    Boot Camp is for the strong, the weak, the fit, and the not so fit. There is no discrimination, as long as you have the will to finish what you started. This high powered 60-minute workout combines high intensity intervals of strength training, mixed with bursts of cardio and elements of HIIT, tabata, and dynamic core training. All fitness levels are welcome and workouts are indoor and outdoor. 

    Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:45 a.m.
    $40 per month at North Lakes Rec Center

    Cycle Yoga
    It's the perfect balance of cardio, flexibility, and strength. This class combines a 40-minute high energy cardio workout with a 20-minute practice of yoga. You'll improve it all while burning 550 to 750 calories per class. All fitness levels are welcome.

    ZUMBA® AT MLK JR. REC CENTER

    Everybody and every body! Zumba® is designed to bring people together by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. This total workout combines many elements of fitness-cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy, and a serious does of awesome. First class is free for new participants. Drop-ins are welcome, $5 per visit.

    Monday and Wednesday, 6-7 p.m., plus second and fourth Saturday, noon-1 p.m.

    Twisted Bodies™ Essential Yoga

Group exercise classes are available for additional fees. Equipment orientations are $10 by appointment. After completing an orientation members ages 12-15 can use the weight room with parental supervision.

    SilverSneakers® Classic
    Have fun and move to the music with a variety of exercises designed to increase strength, range of movement, and daily living skills. A chair is provided for support if needed. All levels are welcome.

    SilverSneakers® Yoga
    This class takes you through a series of seated and standing yoga poses to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. A chair is provided for support if needed. Breathing techniques promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

    If you are eligible for the Silver&Fit through your insurance plan, you are eligible to access the following:

Personal Training & Fitness

  • Personal Training
    North Lakes Personal Training
    Packages start at $200 per month
    Our personal trainers provide customized fitness programs for one-on-one training for customers ages 14 and older, all fitness levels.

    In addition to exercise prescription and instruction, our trainers motivate clients by setting goals, providing feedback, and encouraging accountability. Services include weight loss programs, building lean muscle mass, post-physical therapy rehab, increasing bone density, restoring range of motion, senior fitness, and more. 

    Packages consist of half-hour or one-hour personal training sessions that meet one, two, or three days per week based on fitness goals and motivational levels. Upon completion, you may purchase another or choose single-session assessments to track progress and set new targets. 

    Packages start at $200 per month and vary by trainer and type of package selected. A North Lakes Rec Center gym membership or all-access gym membership is required.

    Performance Enhancement
    Behind every top athlete there is a great trainer. A customized program of evidenced-based techniques will help you become a better athlete. Session frequency depends on training goal. Offered at North Lakes Rec Center, (940) 349-8287.

    Corrective Exercise
    Designed to help prevent and correct muscle imbalances that lead to injuries and poor movement. Session frequency depends on degree of malalignment. Offered at North Lakes Rec Center, (940) 349-8287.

  • Metabolic and VO2 Testing
    Metabolic Testing
    $35 initial test, $25 follow up as needed
    This test determines how many calories your body burns and calculates how many calories 
    you should eat to lose or maintain weight. This is a great way to troubleshoot a frustrating plateau. Offered at North Lakes Rec Center, (940) 349-8287.

    VO2 Testing
    $75 initial test, $50 follow up, as needed
    By measuring your heart rate and oxygen consumption (VO2), we determine how many calories you burn during exercise and your true target workout zone. This is the best way to create the perfect workout for your body. Offered at North Lakes Rec Center, (940) 349-8287.

     
  • Fitness Assessments

    Fitness Assessments, $50
    An assessment is recommended before beginning any strengthening or weight-loss program to better gauge your fitness needs. Testing includes body fat percentage, muscle mass, blood pressure, metabolic age/rate, flexibility, endurance, and maximum strength. Offered at North Lakes Rec Center, (940) 349-8287.
