  • Youth Tennis
    Youth Tennis Lessons
    With progressive instruction in all aspects of tennis, we provide developmental steps for beginners up to state-ranked juniors. Players begin in their appropriate age group but may be bumped to a different level. We may combine age groups if a minimum of four students are not registered. No class Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving week, and MLK Day. Shorter sessions have reduced rates.
     
    pee wee, ages 4-6
    Developed by the USTA, this kid-friendly format adapts the court dimensions, scoring, balls and rackets to the age and size of the child for increased fun and quicker success. 

    Times: Monday, 5-6 p.m. and Saturday, 10-11 a.m.
    Sessions: Aug. 28-Sept. 23 | Sept. 25-Oct. 21 | Oct. 23-Nov. 18  | Nov. 27-Dec. 16 | Jan. 17-Feb. 10  | Feb. 12-March 10

    Students will have a blast learning the basic strokes. Intermediate players will begin playing points and keeping score.

    Entry and advanced players who are in junior high and high school. Players must receive permission from the their coach to enroll.

  • Adult Tennis
    Adult Tennis Leagues and Instruction
    Goldfield Tennis Center is adjacent to North Lakes Rec Center at 2005 W. Windsor Dr. The center has a Pro Shop and nine lighted tennis courts with a backboard on Court 8. The center offers both group and private lessons with tennis pros, adult and youth leagues, and cardio tennis workouts.
     
    Hours of Operation
    Monday-Thursday, 3-9 p.m.; Friday, 3-8 p.m.
    Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Sept-May)
    Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (June-Aug)
     
    Inclement Weather
    The tennis center may close during rainy weather or if the wind chill or normal temperature is below 38 degrees. If inclement weather occurs, call (940) 349-8526 for class and league cancellations and closing information.
     
    Adult Beginner tennis
    Players will be introduced to proper grips and how to hit a forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. Racquets are available to borrow. 

    Times: Monday, 7-8 p.m. and Saturday, 10-11 a.m.

    Cardio Tennis
    Cardio Tennis is a high energy fitness class that combines the best features of tennis with cardiovascular exercise, delivering the ultimate, full body, calorie burning aerobic workout. Players not only get a great workout, but also improve tennis skills. It's a fun group activity for anyone, at any playing level, looking for a fun way to burn calories.

    Times: Monday and Wednesday, 6-7 p.m., and Saturday 9-10 a.m.
    Sessions: Aug. 28-Sept. 23 | Sept. 25-Oct. 21 | Oct. 23-Nov. 18  | Nov. 27-Dec. 16 | Jan. 17-Feb. 10  | Feb. 12-March 10

  • Youth and Adult Golf
    Golf Lessons and Leagues
    Golf lessons are offered at North Lakes Driving Range located at 2009 W. Windsor Dr.

    Premier Jr. Golf Academy, ages 6-16
    Classes are taught by an experienced PGA golf professional. Kids start at Level 1 and advance via a challenge test. Kids must wear appropriate golf clothing, tennis or golf shoes, and bring golf clubs. The academy has a limited number of clubs to borrow.

    Each month includes eight 45 minute lessons in Level 1-4. Register by the 25th of each month for the next session. $165 per player, per month

    Golfers start at Level 1 and advance via a challenge test. They must wear appropriate golf clothing, tennis or golf shoes, and bring golf clubs. The academy has a limited number of clubs to borrow. Each month includes eight 45-minute lessons in Level 1-4. 

    Level 1: Full Swing Intro 
    Kids will learn grip, stance, posture, aim, half swing, safety, and caring.
    Tues. 5:15-6 p.m. and Sat. noon-12:45 p.m.

    Level 2: Short Game Intro
    Kids will learn putting, fundamentals, chipping, and etiquette.
    Tues. 6-6:45 p.m. and Sat. 12:45-1:30 p.m.

    Level 3: Beginner
    Kids will work on check list, back swing, full swing follow through, and fairness.
    Thurs. 5:15-6 p.m. and Sat. 1:30-2:15 p.m.

    Level 4: Beg. to Advanced
    Kids will work on short putt technique, long putt control, chipping low, and clubs.
    Thurs. 6-6:45 p.m. and Sat. 2:15-3 p.m.

    Level 5: Intermediate
    Kids will work on preshot routine, swing plane, back swing checkpoints, 
    and swing balance.

    Level 6: Advanced
    Kids will learn about irons, punch shots, rules, scoring, driving, shots, draws and hooks.
     
    Little Rookies Golf, ages 3-5
    Kids learn good sportsmanship and player safety, while learning to grip, putt, chip, and swing. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate. Space is limited to five rookies. Fee includes a T-shirt. 

    September and October sessions only
    Every Wednesday, 4-4:45 p.m.
    $60 per month at North Lakes Driving Range

    Ladies Golf Enhancement, ages 16+
    New and beginner golfers, learn the base knowledge of the game and proper fundamentals including grip, aim and set up, basic swing, and a balanced finished. 

    Every Wed. 6-7 p.m. and Sat. 10-11a.m.
    $125 per month
     
    Private and Group Lessons
    We offer both group and private lessons with golf pros, and a youth program. 

    North Lakes Driving Range​ Hours

  • Martial Arts
    Texas Isshinryu Karate

    Karate is more than punching and kicking. Age appropriate classes develop character values and skills for success at home, at school, or at work, and in the dojo.

    Adults also find stress relief and a way to stay young. Classes for the whole family improve focus, confidence, discipline, fitness, and self-defense. With an emphasis on traditional values through the study of traditional martial arts, students improve balance, coordination, and body strength. Students can earn patches, belts, stripes, and other distinctions. First trial class is free.

    Red Tiger Karate

    Red Tiger offers a complete white through black belt program. The junior program develops self-esteem, bully defense, respect for others, and more. Teen and adult classes focus on street self-defense, fitness, and personal development. A white uniform is required and may be purchased in class. For more information, call (817) 845-1557.
