    Free Agent List
    The Free Agent List is a way for team coordinators and/or players to find individuals interested in competing in the Denton Parks and Rec Adult Sports Leagues. If you are interested in being added, please email Caitlin.Essex@cityofdenton.com.
  • Tennis Leagues and Instruction
    Goldfield Tennis Center is adjacent to North Lakes Rec Center at 2005 W. Windsor Dr. The center has a Pro Shop and nine lighted tennis courts with a backboard on Court 8. The center offers both group and private lessons with tennis pros, adult and youth leagues, and cardio tennis workouts.
    Adult Single Tennis Leagues
    Leagues follow a six-week round-robin rotation schedule, pending weather conditions. Each night, players will rotate and play two rounds. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. Register one week prior to each league to allow for scheduling.  

    Cardio Tennis
    This is a total body workout with fun, group drills, allowing all levels to burn up to 600 calories in one hour. Class times offered: Monday and Wednesday, 6-7 p.m.; Saturday, 9-10 a.m.  ($15/drop-in)
    Adult Beginner and Intermediate Drill
    Players will be introduced to proper grips and how to hit a forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. Racquets are available to borrow. Class times offered: Monday, 7-8 p.m. and Saturday, 10-11 a.m.

    Inclement Weather
    The tennis center may close during rainy weather or if the wind chill or normal temperature is below 38 degrees. If inclement weather occurs, call (940) 349-8526 for class and league cancellations and closing information.
  • Golf Lessons and Leagues
    Golf lessons are offered at North Lakes Driving Range located at 2009 W. Windsor Dr.

    Premier Jr. Golf Academy, ages 6-16
    Classes are taught by an experienced PGA golf professional. Kids start at Level 1 and advance via a challenge test. Kids must wear appropriate golf clothing, tennis or golf shoes, and bring golf clubs. The academy has a limited number of clubs to borrow.

    Each month includes eight 45 minute lessons in Level 1-4. Register by the 25th of each month for the next session. $165 per player, per month

    Level 1: Full Swing Intro 
    Kids will learn grip, stance, posture, aim, half swing, safety, and caring.
    Tuesday, 5:15-6 p.m. and Saturday, noon-12:45 p.m.

    Level 2: Short Game Intro
    Kids will learn putting, fundamentals, chipping, and etiquette.
    Tuesday, 6-6:45 p.m. and Saturday, 2:45-1:30 p.m.

    Level 3: Beginner
    Kids will work on check list, back swing, full swing follow through, and fairness.

    Level 4: Adv Beginner
    Kids will work on short putt technique, long putt control, chipping low, and clubs.

    Level 5 Intermediate
    Kids will work on preshot routine, swing plane, back swing checkpoints, and swing balance.

    Level 6 Advanced
    Kids will learn about irons, punch shots, rules, scoring, driving, shots, draws and hooks.

    Ladies Golf Enhancement, ages 16+
    For players who are looking to understand the concept, learn grip, aim and set up, obtain a basic swing., and more. $125 per player, per month.
    Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays, 10-11 a.m.

    Denton Golf Open (16+)
    Robson Ranch Golf Course
    Saturday, Sept. 23-24, 10 a.m .
    $90 per player; register here

    Registration fee includes green fees for 18 holes, use of driving range, box lunch, T-prizes and awards. Please register by noon on the Wednesday prior to the tournament. Appropriate cart fee must be paid upon check-in at Robson Ranch. Tee times begin at 10 a.m. Check in 30 minutes prior to your tee time. Please call (940) 246-1012 from noon to 6 p.m. to confirm your tee time. 

    Flight options include: Men’s Championship, Men’s A, B, C and D, Senior Championship, 
    and Women’s Championship.

    Private and Group Lessons
    We offer both group and private lessons with golf pros, and a youth program.

  • Martial Arts
    Texas Isshinryu Karate

    Isshinryu is an authentic martial art stemming from Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. This fun class, taught by world champion and hall-of-fame black belt instructors, focuses on discipline, confidence, coordination, physical fitness, and practical self-defense. A white uniform is required and may be purchased in class. $50 per month, but the first trial class is free at Denia Rec Center, (940) 349-8285.

    Red Tiger Karate

    Red Tiger offers a complete white through black belt program. The junior program develops self-esteem, bully defense, respect for others, and more. Teen and adult classes focus on street self-defense, fitness, and personal development. A white uniform is required and may be purchased in class. $60 per session.
