Welcome to your One Stop Shop for Summer Camp! 

All-day camps require in-person registration, all others offer online registration. For assistance, email or call (940) 349-7275.

  • All-Day Camps, Ages 3½-12
    convenient, affordable, well-managed camps
    Unless otherwise noted, campers need to bring a lunch, snacks, and drinks each day. Field trips fees are included. The camp fee includes field trips, themed activities, arts, crafts, and swimming. Nonresidents add $5 per session/week.

    Registration Details
    $120 per week; S5 is $105 due to the July 4 holiday.
    The first session must be paid in full upon registration. A $10 deposit is required for all other reserved sessions and will be applied to the fee. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable; credits or refunds are not provided for days missed. For sessions paid in full, a one-week notice must be given to receive credit toward another session.

    Snacks and Lunch
    Regardless of being registered for the free lunch program, kids must bring two snacks a drink each day. The free lunch program is available on non-field trip days, June 12-Aug 11.
     
    Little Campers, ages 3½-6 
    Licensed by the Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Services, kids will enjoy a safe, summer camp atmosphere. Themed activities include field trips, swimming, games, crafts, songs, inflatables, dance, story time, and karaoke. Kids must be potty trained. Parents Handbook

    Little Rookies Sports & Fitness
    June 12-16
    Rookies will experience track and field, karate, baseball, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, golf, T-ball, soccer, fitness activities, and more. Each child will receive a sports kits and shirt.

    Little Scientists
    June 19-23
    Your mad scientist will dabble hands on in the science behind magnets, air, water, and more!

    Superhero Adventures
    June 26-30
    In an ordinary world of mortals, kids will be SUPER and SOAR using stories, crafts, games, and activities. Costumes are welcome!

    Knight and Princess Camp
    July 10-14
    Kids will transcend into princesses and knights through stories, activities, games, and crafts. Costumes are welcome!

    Under the Big Top
    July 17-21
    When all else fails, join the circus! We’ll clown around with carnival games, juggling, face painting, spin art, magic, and much more.
     
  • Teen Camp and Teen Adventures
    Every day is full of fun!


    TEEN ADVENTURES, AGES 12-16
    All supplies are provided; experience is not required. Each camp begins with an introduction to the activity and progresses in difficulty during the week. Taught by ACA assessed and Red Cross Lifeguard certified staff. Each week includes field trips to practice at multiple locations.

    All adventures will start and finish at Denia Rec Center. Bring a sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and wear appropriate outdoor clothing including closed-toe shoes. For adventure specific questions, call (940) 349-7784.

    Parent Manual
    $130 per session; $110 for the week of July 4.

    Youth Tech is on the cutting edge of technology.​

    Computer Animation
    June 5-8, 9 a.m.-noon
    $160 per student
    In this class students will learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students who enjoy going to various sites to see fun interactive animations will love this course. This class will utilize award winning animation software and guides students through the development of several unique animation projects. Students will create fun interactive animations that they can share with the world.

    Video Game Design
    June 5-8, 1-4 p.m.
    July 3-6, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (no class July 4)
    $175 per student, per week
    This course provides students with a fun interactive look at the world of video game design and development . Students enrolled in this camp will learn the basics of video game design and produce several different interactive video games to share with their friends and family.

    The Gaming Academy
    July 3-6, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
    $325 per student
    The gaming academy is an all day course for students who love games. During this course students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. The gaming academy is a combination of our Video Game Design, Advanced Game Design and 3D Game Design courses. The course offers students a variety of hands on experience designing and building their very own games. This is an all day course. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.

    3D Game Design
    July 6-7, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
    $165 per student
    Video Game Design is suggested prior to taking this course. This class offers and interactive look at the world of 3D Game Design. This awesome 3D video game design course offers the chance for students to create and immerse themselves in a 3D world. If you are looking to design professional 3D games that both look and feel just like the ones you play at home, then you don't want to miss this course.

    iGame Creator
    July 24-27, 10 a.m.-noon
    $120 per student
    Want to create video games? This is an introductory course for younger students who want learn to build simple video games. This course combines the art of video game design and animation to create interactive characters that fly around the screen. Amaze your friends and family with your fun interactive games.

    Movie Makers
    July 24-27, 1-4 p.m.
    $155 per student
    This hands-on, interactive course will instruct students on the world of digital video design and production. Students will learn concepts that will help them become an effective director of digital video projects. Students enrolled in this course will learn how to create their very own music video.

    iCode
    July 31-Aug. 3,  10 a.m.-noon
    $120 per student
    This course offers younger students a fun, interactive look at coding. Students will create virtual apps and write their own programs that they can share with friends and family. This course makes learning to code fun and explores problem solving and programming

    Web Studio
    July 31-Aug. 3, 1-4 p.m.
    $165 per student
    This class is a combination of our animation and web design classes. In this class students will learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students will not only create fun interactive animations but will learn the basics of web design and how to publish their animations to share with the world. This course is perfect for students with a big imagination.
     
  • STEM, LEGO, and Engineering Camps
    STEM curriculum based Camps
    STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.
     
    Camp Invention, ages 6-11
    This camp is led by DISD science teachers.

    Camp Invention is a nationally recognized program that fosters 21st century competencies by presenting real-world challenges that promote the direct application of critical thinking and communication skills. STEM concepts are explored via hands-on, creative problem solving activities and project-based learning through interdisciplinary modules. Kids will design prototypes and be curious about their world through the dynamic lens of innovation and entrepreneurship. Register three weeks in advance of camp start date.

    Medieval Times with Minecraft
    June 26-29; Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m -noon
    July 17-20; Monday-Thursday, 1-4 p.m.
    $130 per student, per week
    Minecraft EDU is an expansive game that lets players design and create unique worlds with amazing structures. One of the more complicated aspects of Minecraft EDU is Redstone, which is Minecraft EDU’s version of electrical circuitry. This class will introduce students to the many uses of Redstone through a Medieval themed adventure of creation, exploration, and castle besieging, with students making mine cart tracks to help them gather resources, working together to build their kingdom, and designing traps to defend their castle, all with the use of Redstone. Laptops and software will be provided. One-time $20 licensing fee.

    3D Printing: Super Hero Creations
    July 10-13; Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m -noon
    $130 per student
    Students will take their Super Hero design and learn how to extrude it into a 3D model that can then be modified to be printed in 3D. In our 3D Printing program, students will explore the basic concepts of 3D printing and computer-aided design, or CAD, to bring their most awesome Super Hero creation to life! One-time $20 licensing fee.

    Get Wired with Makey Makey Invention Kit Camp
    July 17-20; Monday-Thursday, 1-4 p.m.
    $130 per student
    Makey Makey is an invention kit for the 21st century that turns everyday objects into touchpads and combines them with the internet. In our hardware engineering program, students engineer their own customized video game controllers using a Makey Makey device and materials that can be found in just about any kitchen. Through application of circuitry, acoustical engineering and video game design, students discover new ways to interact with technology, all while creating unique designs in a fun collaborative environment.

    MaKey MaKey is an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. It's a simple Invention Kit for beginners and experts doing art, engineering, and everything in between.

    3D Printing: Minecraft Creations
    June 19-22; Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m -noon
    $130 per student
    Students will take their Minecraft design out of the world of Minecraft and learn how to extrude it into a 3D model that can then be modified to be printed in 3D. In our 3D Printing program, students will explore the basic concepts of 3D printing and computer-aided design, or CAD, to bring their most awesome Minecraft creation to life! One-time $20 licensing fee.

    Electronic Game Design
    July 10-13; Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m -noon
    $130 per student
    Kids use Clickteam Fusion 2® to create their own video game from start to finish. We will use the engineering design process to create storyboard that will outline the rules of play and characters for our game based on the basic rules of racing. Then, we will use Clickteam Fusion 2.5® to bring our storyboard to like with programming. At the end of the program, everyone takes home a working Windows-compatible game.

    LEGO® Robotics Rescue Robots, ages 10-14
    June 26-29; Monday-Thursday, 1-4 p.m.
    $130 per student
    During the Robotics Rescue Robots program, students design and program robots to respond to simulated disaster situations such as moving rubble and retrieving targets using LEGO® MINDSTORMS™ EV3 sets. Robots to the Rescue!

    LEGO® WeDo™​​ Robotics Rescue Robots, ages 5-9
    June 26-29; Monday-Thursday, 1-4 p.m.
    $130 per student
    This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning, using LEGO® WeDo™ Robots. Students build various wild animals, amazing mechanisms, and soccer-themed gadgets. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer.

    Forensic Investigators​, ages 6-12
    June 19-22; Monday-Thursday, 1-4 p.m.
    $130 per student
    Kids will embark on a new journey to decipher clues and biological codes, trace evidence, and use forensic techniques to help identify the perpetrator. One-time $30 supply fee.

    We bring young technicians into a creative engineering enviroment with “Zillions” of hands on pieces this innovative program offers unseen NEW games, projects and activities led by a certified educator. Your child will use and develop their critical thinking skills to construct dinosaurs, rockets, castles, airplanes, forts, cars, and more. Older builders will expand knowledge of math, science and technology in an exploratory hands-on cooperative environment the is age specific.

    Ultimate Survival, ages 7-12
    July 31-Aug, 4; Monday-Friday, 2-4 p.m.
    $100 per student
    During survival situations, the four basic needs, become shelter, water, fire, and food. By introducing basic techniques, enlisted kids will learn how to purify water, leave no trace camping, signal for help, wilderness navigation, search for edible food, first aid, set up shelter and even learn Army chants! Wrapped in games and outdoor adventure, unique challenges await! 

     
    BRICKS4KIDZ LEGO®, ages 5-13

    Using specialized LEGO® Technic pieces such as gears, axles, and electric motors, children work in pairs to construct a variety of Bricks 4 Kidz models, as well as build creations of their own during our free-play periods. Our camps keep the pace fast and the action going with LEGO® Bricks, games and more to ensure kids will have plenty of LEGO® fun! Bricks 4 Kidz staff are screened previous to employment and provide friendly, qualified guidance for your children.

    Apps and Video Game Art
    June 21-23
    Art is all around us, including on phones and online! Join us for a workshop mimicking the amazing imagery of apps and video games!  Kids will learn illustration and coloring techniques inspired by popular video games. Artwork is inspired by pixel block characters, plants, zombies and classic apps and games. 

    World of Dinosaurs Pastel Drawing
    July 19-21
    Travel back in time to the land of the lost. Kids will learn to use pastels to create impressive and frame-worthy art. We'll draw and color different dinosaurs in varying artistic styles ranging from realism, graphic, and cartoon. Perfect for boys or girls who love the ancient world of big lizards!

    Performing Arts Camp,  ages 5-10

    This mini-camp breaks down the fundamentals of theater by teaching kids the tools needed to create their very own play! We will specialize in the writing of an original production and guide their vision toward a 15 minute performance for all to enjoy. Kids will be divided into age groups: 5-7 and 8-10.

    Texas Agri Life Mini-Camps, ages 6-11

    Junior Master Naturalist

    Kids will explore nature, create, craft, hike, and journal with certified Elm Fork Master Naturalists. Each day, we will study local habitats: woodlands, wetlands, prairies, ponds, and rivers, and urban areas! Kids must bring snacks, water, and wear closed toe shoes, long pants, sunscreen and insect repellent. 

    Junior Master Gardner
    July 17-21; register by June 30.
    Kids will explore the world of gardening with certified Denton County Master Gardeners.  Each day, we will study a different aspect of backyard gardening through horticultural and environmental science activities.  Kids must bring snacks, water, and wear closed toe shoes, long pants, sunscreen and insect repellent. 
     
  • Kayak Camps, Aquatic Explorer, & More
    Perfect for kids and teens who love the water!

    Kayak Camps, Aquatic Explorer Camp, and Swim Camp are great camps for kids who want to stay cool while having fun. Parents are welcome to make the experience a memory by pairing up in Intro to Paddling and Kayak Roll Camps. All camps are at Denton NAT and Water Works Park unless otherwise noted.     Kayaking-Intro to Paddling, ages 8+

    In this course, participants will learn safety skills,basic boat orientation, and stroke technique. Fun for the whole family, participants will use kayaks to practice basic river maneuvers in a controlled environment. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, and paddles are provided. $60 per person.

    Kayaking-Roll, ages 12+
    In this course, participants will expand their knowledge of paddling through the addition of rolling a kayak. Skills presented will include wet exits, hip snaps, bracing, and paddle rolling. $60 per person.

    This camp focuses on similar activities found on a traditional swim team. Kids will participate in wacky relay races, stroke clinics, learn and play water polo, and more. Kids must be able to swim one full length of the pool unassisted. $45 per person.

    Jr. Golf Academy Camp, ages 7-15
    Taught by experienced PGA Golf Pros, this golf camp teaches fundamentals and techniques necessary for any golfer. Brush up on skills and learn some new ones. The fee includes snacks, drinks, and a T-shirt. $240 per week

    Perfect for beginner or advanced skateboarders!

    Summary of Qualifications for Enrollment; No Exceptions
    To qualify, your household must fall under one the following income levels. Click here to view income levels. 

    All households must provide the following documents:

    • A birth certificate with original seal for each child
    • If legal guardian, legal documentation showing guardianship
    • A 2016 completed single or joint tax return with supportive documents (i.e. W-2 or other proof of income) and child must be listed as a dependent on tax return
    • Proof of residency in City of Denton (electric bill and driver’s license must match)
    • Four (4) most recent check stubs for each person in household for all jobs 
    • If received, proof of the following types of income from any household member:child support, adoption subsidy, alimony, SSI, Social Security, Veteran’sAdministration benefits, unemployment compensation, worker’s compensation, and any other retirement or disability benefits
    • If one the of the parents is residing in another country, current proof of residency of country, 4 current pay stubs, and 2016 tax return if country of residency requires.    

    Two-parent households, including parents not living in same household, must both meet at least one of the following documented requirements:
    • Currently working at least 30-40 hours per week                  
    • Proof of attending an educational program (i.e. paid tuition receipt & class schedule) and registered as a full time student for the entire summer. 

    Single-parent households must meet at least one of the following documented requirements:
    • Currently working at least 30-40 hours per week
    • Proof of attending an educational program (i.e. paid tuition receipt & class schedule) and registered as a full time student for the entire summer. 

    Single-parent households must provide the following documents if pertains to your current situation:
    • A birth certificate for the child with original seal that lists you as the only parent
    • Documentation that you are divorced or separated and you must have documented proof from the attorney general’s office that you are not receiving child support
    • A death certificate if other parent is deceased
    • If parent is currently incarcerated, documented proof of the dates of incarceration
  • Licensed Preschools

    Full-time and Part-time Preschools
    Our peschools are designed to nurture the whole child and provide support needed for social, emotional and intellectual growth. Students will learn, laugh, and grow in a safe and fun environment. Teachers use the Mother Goose Time curriculum to promote numbers, letters, colors, and shapes through music, arts and crafts, physical education, stories, and field trips.

    The preschools are licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and a Child Care Management Services (CCMS) vendor. Students must be potty trained, and bring their own lunch, snacks, and drinks each day.

    Full Time Preschools, ages 3-5
    Tuition is $400 per month, and admission requires an $85 deposit and a $25 annual supply fee. Enrollment is limited to 12 students per preschool.

    North Lakes Part-Time Preschool, ages 3-5

    At North Lakes Part-Time Preschool, students will learn skills that prepare them for a school environment, such as directions, counting, recognizing numbers, the alphabet, sharing, and arts and crafts. 

    Admission requires a deposit equal to one month's tuition and an annual $25 supply fee. Enrollment is limited to 12 students per class. North Lakes Preschool is located in the North Lakes Annex at 1117 Riney Rd. For more information and to enroll, call (940) 349-8287.

  • After School Child Care

    City of Denton Parks and Rec offers affordable after school care with extended hours. Each day of school, students are picked up from school and transported to one of our recreation centers for an array of activities and tutorial time. All drivers are City employees and have completed a training course in defensive driving.

    We offer a variety of activities including intramural leagues, arts and crafts, field trips, rock climbing, "Brainy Bowl," bounce houses, skating, and more. Students also have homework or tutorial time and snack time.

    Transportation is provided to the following recreation centers from the schools listed below. Students must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. from the corresponding center.

    • Denia Rec Center: Borman, Hawk, Houston, LA Nelson, McNair, Ryan
    • MLK Jr. Rec Center: Cross Oaks, Hodge, Lee, Pecan Creek, Providence, Rivera, Stephens
    • North Lakes Rec Center: Evers, Ginnings, Rayzor, Wilson

  • Kids' Day Off and DISD In-Service Child Care
    Next Date: June 2

    We provide fun, supervised activities and field trips on school holidays and in-service days for kids in grades K-6. Kids must bring snacks and a lunch.

    Register at least two days prior to each holiday or in-service day. Call (940) 349-PARK to determine space availability and field trips. Drop off and pick up is 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Denton Civic Center.

    Cost is $30 per child per day.
