    Plots are allocted by Denton Parks and Rec at Denton Civic Center, located at 321 E.McKinney St. Signed community agreements and payment are required to reserve a plot.

    Below are a few points outlined in the agreement:

    • Plots are approximately 15’ x 15’ or 11’ x 13’
    • $20 garden fee per plot, paid to the City of Denton Parks Department.
    • Plots must be cleared by Nov. 30, 2017 to prepare plots for 2018.
    • Plots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Prior to planting, Denton Parks and Rec will plow and disk a garden site and each tenant is responsible for the fined soil work and addition of any soils or compost materials.
    • Hand watering only, no sprinklers or timers allowed.

    Carl Young Splash Park and CDBG Restroom Grant:

    On March 30, 2015, Parks requested $85,000 of Community Development Block Grant Funding to be matched by $10,000 of in-kind support to fund a restroom /changing room at Carl Young Park.
     
    The Spray Park will be funded with $200,000.00 of General Obligation Bonds and up to an additional $100,000 of various funds. The inclusion of a restroom facility is necessary to allow patrons an area to change clothes.
     
    A December 19, 2016 public meeting was held at MLK Jr. Rec Center for feedback and revisions to the Spray Park, restrooms, mechanical, electrical and plumbing submittals, as well as updates to the application for a Minor Plat. As of spring 2017, design is currently in revision.
